Update on the animals

Thank You

In the aftermath of the fire that swept through Mabalingwe, we find strength in the outpouring of support from compassionate people and generous organisations. Their kindness has not only warmed our hearts but also provided a lifeline to the animals that call the farm their home.

As you are aware almost 6,000 hectares of bushveld in Mabalingwe were destroyed following the fire, which left many animals without sufficient grazing and access to water to survive. Even before any request was made for outside assistance many individuals and organisations reached out to offer their assistance.

We, unfortunately, do not have the contact details of all the people who assisted with donations, but we would nonetheless like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who supported us during these trying times.

Dereck from the Aspinall Foundation also assisted us with a helicopter to access the status of the animals on the property. We are pleased to report that most of the animals escaped the flames, including the large, endangered mammals.

We would also like to thank all the people on the ground for coordinating the relief efforts and ensuring that not only are the animals on Mabalingwe happy and healthy, but also that the neighbouring farms have adequate feed available.

At this stage there is enough feed to last for +-3 – 4 weeks whereafter we will purchase feed as required until the veld has had a chance to heal.

Please keep an eye out on the website and your e-mails for further updates.
